A Touch of Darkness completely swept me off my feet. I started to listen expecting a fun retelling of Hades and Persephone, but what I found was a story that touched me on a much deeper level. Beneath the romance, the magic, and the mythology is a beautiful story about self-discovery, vulnerability, and learning to embrace every part of who you are.

Listening to Persephone’s journey felt incredibly personal at times. Her struggles with expectations, independence, and finding her own voice made her easy to connect with, even in a world filled with gods and magic. Watching her grow throughout the story was one of my favorite parts of the experience. Scarlett’s description of Persephone and Hades felt like I could really see them. Her creation of both the overworld and the underworld is astonishing. I found myself wishing to stroll through the underworld to see the beauty Hades had created.

The chemistry between Persephone and Hades was absolutely electric, but what stayed with me most were the quieter moments between them. The moments where walls came down, trust was built, and two people slowly learned to see and accept one another for who they truly were. Those scenes gave the story so much heart and emotional depth. Let’s not forget the spice! Holy Heck the spice level is HIGH here and I am here for it. Absolutely perfect. So sexy.

The narration brought an extra layer of life to the characters and made it easy to become completely immersed in the world. I found myself looking forward to every chance I had to listen, and before I knew it, I was completely invested in the story and not ready for it to end.

This audiobook made me smile, ache, swoon, and occasionally want to yell at the characters when they got in their own way. By the end, I felt emotionally attached to both the characters and their journey. A Touch of Darkness is more than just a romance—it’s a story about love, growth, and finding the courage to be yourself. It left a lasting impression on me, and I can’t wait to continue the series.
