The Teacher was another entertaining and twisty thriller from Frieda McFadden. As always, she knows how to keep the reader guessing, and I found myself wanting to listen to “just one more chapter” more than once.

The narration by Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth really elevated the story. Leslie Howard did a great job capturing the different emotions and personalities of the female characters. Leslie did so amazing job capturing the young Addie, the teenage angst, and the emotion. All the while giving the picture of the “awful” Eve… While Danny Montooth brought a strong presence to the male perspective. Together, they helped build the tension and made the audiobook easy to get immersed in.

For most of the book, I thought I had a pretty good idea of where the story was headed. I picked up on a few clues along the way, which is why this wasn’t quite a 5-star listen for me. That said, Frieda McFadden still managed to completely surprise me with the giant twist at the end. The final reveal made me rethink so much of what I’d heard and left me sitting there in shock for a few minutes after it was over.

Overall, this was a fun, fast-paced psychological thriller with strong narration and an ending that definitely delivers. I was shook in the last chapter. I truly did not see the twist coming! If you enjoy unreliable characters, plenty of suspense, and a jaw-dropping final twist, The Teacher is well worth the listen.
