About the Story:

Ward D takes listeners deep into the unsettling world of a psychiatric hospital, and from the very first chapter, I was completely hooked. Freida McFadden’s writing is absolutely fabulous – she has this incredible ability to build suspense that keeps you glued to your headphones for hours. The atmosphere she creates is both chilling and addictive, making this one of the best Freida McFadden books I’ve experienced.

The Narration:

Leslie Howard’s narration is phenomenal and truly elevates this audiobook to another level. Her voice acting brings each character to life with distinct personalities and emotional depth. The way she builds tension through her pacing and tone had me holding my breath during crucial scenes. If you love well-narrated audiobooks, Leslie Howard’s performance in Ward D is absolutely top-tier. She perfectly captures the eerie atmosphere of the psychiatric ward setting. Leslie was able to capture the stress and fear of the main character Amy so well, I literally got goose bumps during parts of the audiobook.

That Plot Twist Though!

Without giving away any spoilers, I have to talk about THE TWIST. Freida McFadden is known as the queen of plot twists for a reason, and Ward D might be her best work yet. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, she completely blindsided me with a revelation that had my heart absolutely pumping! She ripped the whole rug out from under me, when I thought I had it all figured out. Holy cannoli! I actually had to pause the audiobook to process what just happened. My jaw was on the floor. This is the kind of twist that makes you want to immediately relisten to catch all the clever breadcrumbs you missed the first time.
